Major marketing services provider requires a Business
Development Manager with a track record of identifying and closing
new business opportunities of significant value (£250K+) within the
data & insight led marketing space.
Key
Responsibilities
- Deliver budgeted profit & sales
targets
- Create and develop a pipeline of new
business and opportunities
- Works with clients to fully understand their
business issues, problems, requirements &
objectives
- Works with colleagues and subject matter
experts to develop a solution which will support and enhance the
achievement of the Client’s business objectives, meet/exceed their
requirements and address/overcome potential problems and
issues
- Ensures that colleagues fully understand the
client’s requirements/objectives, what needs to be done and are
clear on their roles in delivering the solution: arranges team and
client meetings to review work in progress, highlight potential
issues, confirm schedules and generally ensure progress is in line
with client’s expectations
- Builds relationships and forms networks
internally and with external specialists and communities of
practice to scan for emerging trends, innovations, current best
practice and to fully understand the external market: uses insight
to influence solution development and change with
clients
- Facilitates a smooth and seamless transition
of the client relationship into an account team: Ensures that the
overall capability and capacity of the team is appropriate to
deliver the immediate and ongoing customer needs and requirements;
Logistics are in place including Contracts, Account Plans,
Salesforce information and SLA
Experience
- Proven experience of selling high value data
solutions to different market sectors (c.£250k + Revenue
pa)
- Previous roles with similar
organisations
- Has a deep knowledge & understanding of
data services; strategy, performance goals and drivers and fully
understands the direct marketing industry, current issues, future
developments, market factors that impact performance, including
legal restrictions, economic conditions and so
on
- Has a good understanding of the company’s
business strategy, how we make money, how we are structured and how
our teams work together.
- Fully conversant with the range of products
and services we provide and how they combine to create an overall
marketing & services offering to our
clients.
- Has a very good understanding of the
competition; their key strengths and weaknesses, the products
and services they provide and how these compare in the market,
their key customers & personnel, business strategy, activity
and marketing messages
- Understands what is & what is not a
contract, contract terminology, the contracting process, sign off
arrangements, our 'golden rules', where, when & how to get
help
- Knows the way the (potential) client’s
business is structured, how teams work together the products and
services they provide and the types of customers they have.
Understands the sector in which they operate, market factors
that impact performance, including customers, competitors, legal
restrictions and so on
- Understands where an integrated marketing
approach is best suited and how marketing response rates can be
improved with better targeting, insight solutions, MI reporting
etc.
- Knows how to analyse, evaluate and draw
conclusions from financial data. Understands the key financial
metrics & documents e.g. P & L, balance sheet, profit, cash
flow, working capital
- Has very good understanding of Group
marketing & PR activity and how to best use the team to support
client development
- Has a good understanding of relevant
legislation e.g. FSA, DPA; and understands what needs to be done to
comply and mitigate risk
