Head of Data and Analytics - J1274

Leading media owner requires a Head of Data & Analytics to develop and deliver profitable data led marketing communications.

 

Key purpose of the job:

  • Build a data environment that facilitates the generation of insight quickly and easily and disseminates it through the business via standard and ad hoc reporting
  • Use all of available data assets to get a complete picture of customer behaviour; generating insight that leads to business opportunities
  • Increase the volume and improve the quality of collected data

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with all internal owners of data to identify, extract and analyse key information on customer behaviour
  • Design and own development of an appropriate information platform for generation of insight, including creation of a single customer view and standard reporting functions
  • Work with business owners to design and develop appropriate enhanced standard reporting
  • Take ownership of web and mobile analytics being the primary contact for this within the business
  • Generate insight on customer behaviour and work with business owners to identify opportunities and make recommendations
  • Work closely with internal insight teams to cross fertilise and enhance learning.
  • Liaise with the Central CRM platform team to ensure the data held across the group enhances insight
  • Develop CRM activity to being best in class
  • Generate propensity models and profiling to enhance the success of customer campaigns
  • Develop and maintain dynamic customer segmentations and aid in the creation of treatment strategies (eg, next best customer action) based on segment
  • Monitor the 3rd party data market and make recommendations where 3rd party data might significantly enhance understanding of customers
  • Drive for changes in data collection strategies where customer contact could be enhanced
  • Work with IT and technical development teams to ensure data collection and storage infrastructure is best in class

Skills:

  • Analytical and numerate mindset - Proven ability to boil down a problem to the essential elements and work logically and rationally to drive to a solution and recommendation
  • Proven track record of self-managing and working across multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and collaborative approach - ability to build and manage relationships with a wide and disparate senior stakeholder group.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into simple to understand reports/recommendations
  • Experience in setting up projects for success; thinking not just about the tasks, but the stakeholders, risks, systems and process that must be navigated to deliver in a very large corporate environment.
  • Ability to write clear design specification guidelines for data warehouse environments
  • Ability to build robust and verifiable monetary business cases based on analysis of large quantities of data.
  • Experience of processes excellence - setting the gold standard benchmark for how new activities should be set up for success both on day 1, and to scale and adapt to the ever changing business requirements.

Experience/ Qualifications Required

  • Capable of using SQL data interrogation techniques
  • Experience of SAS or similar analytical tools
  • Experience of Omniture or similar web analytics tool
  • Previous experience in optimising data warehouse structures and dealing with large scale data manipulation
  • University degree or equivalent
  • Experience in using insight to generate business change
  • Experience of industry standard methodologies for manipulating data for marketing campaigns
  • Statistical background
  • Use of web analytics tools like Omniture
  • Experience of building and managing a team

Salary           up to £75K + bonus + benefits
